Renewable Electricity Capacity
Scotland’s capacity for electricity generation from renewable sources has increased substantially over the past 10 years and currently stands at 17.7 GW – a 13.9% increase compared to 15.5 GW at the end of the first quarter of 2024 (Figure 2).
The technologies with the largest capacity growth between the first quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2025 were fixed offshore wind (1.3 GW increase) and onshore wind (0.7 GW increase).
